Renmark South Australia

In March and April John and I had a fabulous holiday in Singapore and travelling around Australia.

After visiting Mount Gambier and Coonawarra we went to Renmark and had a great time meeting my cousins.

The Murray River runs through Renmark making it an ideal place for growing fruit especially oranges and grapes.  We stayed with Jeannette and Paul who showed us around the Riverland including Berri and the Big Orange.  We also enjoyed a pleasant afternoon on a boat trip.

Berri

is famous for its fruit and fruit juice.

The Big Orange, a typical Aussie symbol really sets the scene in Berri.  Inside there's an interpretative centre and a souvenir shop.

Should you want to find out more about Australia's obsession with Big Things check out this list.  They are generally huge, tacky everyday pieces of food or household objects by the road sides.

They also served a delicious Devonshire cream tea aboard before we sailed back into town.

After Renmark we went to Adelaide and met some more members of the family.
