In March and April John and I had a fabulous holiday in Singapore and travelling around Australia.

After leaving Singapore we flew to Perth, Western Australia where we started our Aussie adventures.

The city is a mixture of modern skyscrapers and 19th century buildings, where the sun is always shining and everyone spends their leisure time at the beach. We also explored the Swan Valley wine region, which was great fun.

Black swans are native to Australia. It took ages to get this one to pose for the camera!

and the black swans can be seen everywhere.

Swan Valley Wine Cruise

It was another sunny morning as we sailed gently upstream.

Anchors away and we have our first sample

No sooner had we set off than the wine tasting began.

We passed the WACA and the house where Rolf Harris lived as a child.

Then lunch was served accompanied by another bottle from the region.

During the afternoon we visited two wineries.

First stop was Houghton Wines, the biggest producer in the area.

Then we visited a newer winery, River Bank Estate,

where we thoroughly enjoyed the presentation on how to appreciate and judge wines, and of course the tasting itself was fun too.

Then it was time to return to the boat and enjoy the early evening cruise back to Perth.

We really enjoyed the trip, you can probably tell by our rosy cheeks!

After Perth we moved several kilometres south to Cottesloe Beach and Fremantle.

See the photos from the rest of our travels around Singapore and Australia.
