After travelling around Canada from the East Coast to West we reached our
final destination, Vancouver on the Pacific Ocean. It's a huge city spread out
across several islands surrounded by mountains.
Downtown Vancouver contains an
interesting mix of sight seeing musts.

Vancouver Art Gallery
Gastown is a
historic district with Victorian architecture, cobbled streets, several good
restaurants

and
a famous antique steam clock that whistles and blows steam every 15 minutes.
We
also visited Stanley Park.

The park has a fine
collection of 8 totem poles.
Each has intricate carvings of animals and birds.
The Vancouver Aquarium is also situated in Stanley Park. We had a fun
afternoon visiting the animals including
beluga
whales
dolphins
and the playful sea otters.
The next day we visited The
Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park.
The
bridge is 450 feet (140 meters) across and 230 feet (70meters) above
Vancouver’s spectacular Capilano River.

as
you walk across it swings and sways and
you can look down into the Capilano Canyon.

and
the Capilano River On
the other side of the bridge we followed the well laid paths through the rain
forest.
Some
of these Douglas firs are over 200 years old.
They
are enormous, some are even 300 feet tall. and
in this forest I finally came face to face with a big black bear. Fortunately
it was a friendly
one!
We
had a superb holiday in Canada.
See the photos from Montreal, Ottawa,
Bob's wedding, Edmonton
and Jasper and The Rockies.
