After travelling around Canada from the East Coast to West we reached our final destination, Vancouver on the Pacific Ocean. It's a huge city spread out across several islands surrounded by mountains.

Downtown Vancouver contains an interesting mix of sight seeing musts.

Gastown is a historic district with Victorian architecture, cobbled streets, several good restaurants

and a famous antique steam clock that whistles and blows steam every 15 minutes.

 

 

 

We also visited Stanley Park.

The park has a fine collection of 8 totem poles.


Each has intricate carvings of animals and birds.

The Vancouver Aquarium is also situated in Stanley Park.  We had a fun afternoon visiting the animals including Beluga Whale Vancouver Aquarium, Canada

and the playful sea otters.

The next day we visited The Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park.

The bridge is 450 feet (140 meters) across and 230 feet (70meters) above Vancouver’s spectacular Capilano River.

as you walk across it swings and sways

 

 

 

 

and you can look down into the Capilano Canyon.

On the other side of the bridge we followed the well laid paths through the rain forest.

Some of these Douglas firs are over 200 years old.

 

 

 

 

 

trunk diameters are enormous and they can grow upto 300 feet high

 

They are enormous, some are even 300 feet tall.

 

 

 

 

 

and in this forest I finally came face to face with a big black bear.  Fortunately it was a friendly one!

After travelling across Canada from coast to coast I finally met a black bear!
