In September 2003 John and I visited Canada. Our first stop was Montreal, where we spent a very interesting few days. Our first impression of the city was that it has a very European feel.
We wandered around Montreal exploring both the old and the new districts. Starting in Vieux Montreal
We soon found Place d'Armes
The statue in the middle of the square is of Sieur Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve, who founded the city in 1642.
The Hotel de Ville
We walked down to the waterfront The Marché Bonsecours
Along the waterfront
The Clock Tower on the banks of the St. Lawrence River
In the evening we walked up to the Parc Mont Royal
and over to the Oratoire St. Joseph
we climbed the steps and ...
were rewarded with a lovely view of the sunset over Montreal.
After leaving Montreal we went to Ottawa and celebrated Bob & Christine's wedding. Then we moved onto Edmonton, Jasper, The Rocky Mountains and Vancouver.
