Following the "Loire à Vélo" signs we took the scenic cycle path along the banks of the Loire River.

Eventually we arrived at Villandry chateau.  This chateau is well known for its colourful and beautifully designed gardens. 

The steps to the bridge lead to the water garden.

It's nice and relaxing sitting by the fountains watching the swans glide idly past.

Then we went through the archways

and wandered around the more formal and ornamental sections of the gardens.

Then it was time to get back on our bikes and cycle back to our hotel in Tours.
