We took advantage of a public holiday weekend in May to visit friends living in Prague, Czech Republic. It was interesting to see the changes since our last visit to
Prague in 2002.
We also dined at some fabulous restaurants.
Prague
We caught a tram to the castle complex perched high above the city, which houses the Presidential Residence, the Old Royal Palace and the iconic St Vitus Gothic cathdral. The cathedral with its twin spires and the Great South Bell Tower dates from the 14th century.
The National Museum on Wencelas Square.
The statue of Wencelas I, Duke of Bohemia.
The Valtava River flows through the centre of Prague.
Dumplings are a traditional Czech food. They are served as both a savoury dish and as a dessert.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch in Cafe Imperial. The walls and ceilings are adorned with colourful mosiacs, which add to the grand and opulent atmosphere of this early 20th century building.
