The annual Mulligans/Auld Alliance pétanque tournament took place on a sunny day in September
in Paris. As usual we met everyone at the Tuileries metro at the entrance to the Jardin des
Tuileries.

Des and Gareth were among the first to arrive.

Alain organised the teams, we gathered up our boules
and the competition began.

Are you ready Jim? |
Neil and Christine played against Ann and Andy. |
Decisions about whose boule is closest are taken very seriously. Sometimes a
third umpire is called upon.

Sarah and I challenged Stefan's team.

Stefan started well.

I tried to concentrate on my next shot.
It turned out to be a tough match,

but I think Sarah's smile declares who won in the end!

Meanwhile John & Ollie were playing on the other side of the pitch.

John tried out his brand new black boules against Mike's team

and then against Andy, who just couldn't put his drink down.
In between matches there was time to eat our picnic. |
