In July we went to Yorkshire to Dave & Ilona's party.
Then we visited the market town of Beverley, the
Yorkshire Scultpure Park near Wakefield and caught up with various friends
in Leeds. Dave and Ilona's birthday party
The birthday party weekend took place in July at Bishop
Burton.

Raising our glasses for a birthday toast.

A chance to meet up with friends.

An extra special cake

The birthday girl and boy.
Beverley
After the party we spent a pleasant afternoon in Beverley, a picturesque
market town in the East Riding.

The bandstand is in the centre of town.

Beverley is famous for its Minster, which was completed in 1425 and is a fine
example of the Gothic style.

The tall slender west towers of the Minster can be seen from miles around.
The dramatic west front.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park
We enjoyed exploring this outdoor gallery and discovered some amazing
sculptures.

Molecule Man by Jonathan Borofsky

There were several Eduardo Paolozzi's aluminium sculptures dotted around the
landscaped gardens.

These wheels were so huge.

Sophie Ryder's exhibition certainly made us look twice!

Antony Gormley is well known for his sculptures of human figures.
(See the photos of his installation,
Another Place at Crosby
Beach.)

Henry Moore, Yorkshire born and bred.
Leeds
In Leeds we enjoyed catching up with old friends.
