Tynwald Day, the Isle of Man's national day is celebrated every 5 July
at St. John's. In 2002 John and I attended the festivities.
A service is held in St John's church, which is broadcast on Manx Radio and
to the crowds
Then the Lieutenant Governor and Members of Tynwald (the Manx Parliament)
proceed from the church and assemble on Tynwald hill.

The new laws which have been passed by Tynwald during the past year are read
out in both English and in Manx.

After the formal ceremonies a fair with amusements and various stalls
takes place in a nearby field.
