Verona and Lake Garda. Florence

Verona
This historic city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Many Roman ruins and Medieval buildings have been preserved including the
Porta Nuova,

The Amphitheatre Arena was constructed in the first century AD.

It is situated in the middle of the Piazza Bra and is still
used today to host the famous Verona opera festival.

Verona's splendid town hall is also in the Piazza Bra along with several bars

Lake Garda

Lake Garda is Italy's largest lake.

We caught the train from Verona to picturesque Desenzano on the south western
corner of the lake.

We enjoyed strolling along the lakeside admiring the views of the surrounding
mountains.

The small town has a nice relaxing atmosphere and we went to some lovely
restaurants near the harbour.
