During our holiday in the Loire Valley we visited Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci's home at
Amboise.
He spent the last three years of his life here painting and working on his
theories.
The manor house has been restored with Renaissance fireplaces, furnishings
and frescoes.

In addition to exhibits of his drawings and paintings Clos Lucé also
contains a remarkable collection of several designs and models of Leonardo's
machines including the parachute, helicopter, tank.

The Renaissance garden and tea rooms.
Leonardo da Vinci died in 1519 and is buried in the chapel at the chateau
in Amboise. There is even a secret underground passage from Clos Lucé
to the chateau.

However John and I took the more conventional route by road when we later that afternoon
visited Amboise.
