John and I joined our friends at Cassis on the Côte d'Azur in the south of
France during the summer.
We spent a wonderfully relaxing few days on the beach and ambling around the
chic little seaside resort surrounded by high cliffs and the deep blue sea.

The port at Cassis
Every day we discovered a different beach and set up base camp.

Some beaches were more pebbly than others and not always very comfortable for
posing and sunbathing!
Leisurely afternoons were spent swimming

and snorkelling in the sea,
and gazing up at the pretty coves and headlands all around.
We were staying in a lovely villa on the outskirts of town.
From the porch

we had some great views of the hills and olive groves.
Naturally all that time spent on the beach can build up an appetite.

John, Pierre and Nathalie preparing dinner,

which includes one of our favourite dishes, moules marinières.
An excellent way to end an excellent holiday!
