We spent the Easter weekend in Arcachon, a seaside resort in the south west of
France. We also visited the Dune du Pilat, the tallest sand dune in
Europe and enjoyed some fabulous restaurants.
Arcachon
It was very pleasant strolling around the chic seaside town
admiring the 19th century and contemporary architecture.

It's a great place for seafood and in particular oysters with several quality
restaurants

and there are sandy beaches that stretch along the coast and around the Arcachon Basin.

Dune du Pilat

This sand dune is just a few kilometres south of Arcachon and is about 3km long,
500m wide and over 100m high.

It's a steep climb up even if you do use the steps,

but from the top there is a rewarding view of Les Landes, the sandy pine forest on one
side and the Atlantic on the other.
