UK Tour 2016: Cheshire, Portmeirion, Bristol, Cheddar Gorge

We met various friends on our holiday in England and Wales when we visited Cheshire, Portmeirion, Bristol, and Cheddar Gorge. We went hot air ballooning in Bristol and dined at some wonderful restaurants.

Cheshire

We went to the Jodrell Bank Observatory. The giant Lovell Radio Telescope has been helping scientists learn more about the universe since 1957 and is a visible Cheshire landmark.

We stayed at a lovely country pub

Portmeirion

is on the North Wales coast and was designed by Sir Clough William-Ellis, who created an unusual Italian style village. It was the setting of the cult 1960's TV show, 'The Prisoner' and there's also the famous Portmeirion Pottery.

Following the higgledy-piggledy streets through the quirky village and gardens we discovered the coastal footpath along the estuary.
