In August we had a holiday catching up with friends in Lancashire and enjoyed a day trip in the Lake District. I've also listed some recommended restaurants in the area.

Bowness-on-WindermereFiona & John at Lake Windermere

Bowness-on-Windermere is a small tourist resort on the shore of Lake Windermere, the largest lake in England.

The views from Bowness out across the lake and up to the mountains are quite spectacular.

We also visited The World of Beatrix Potter, a museum dedicated to the life and works of this famous author who lived in the Lake District.

We met some of the characters from her tales including

Mr Tod, the fox at the Beatrix Potter attraction

We rounded off a lovely afternoon with Robbie in a beer garden.  It was very relaxing sipping our shandies whilst enjoying the surrounding scenery.

Also during our holiday we dropped in on Yvonne & John for a cuppa and a slice of cake.
