We enjoyed a weekend in Fontainebleau a stylish historic town famous for its
beautiful chateau and surrounding forest near Paris.
The historical town with elegant buildings, bustling shops and thriving markets.
Fontainebleau Chateau
Fontainebleau Chateau is a great example of the Renaissance architectural style.
Originally a royal hunting lodge it was transformed over the centuries by the
kings of France and Napoleon Bonaparte into a magnificent royal palace.
The surrounding gardens and park includes Carp Lake with a little island
pavilion in the middle
and a 2km long canal lined with mature trees.
John contemplating life over a leisurely Sunday lunch before we catch the train
back to Paris
