In the Autumn we travelled to Italy and stayed in Florence,
Verona and Lake Garda.
The Piazzale Michelangelo offers panoramic views of Florence and the Arno River.
We stayed with our friend, April and her family.
From the San Miniato church we enjoyed an impressive view of this beautiful city,
This historic city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Many Roman ruins and Medieval buildings have been preserved including the Porta Nuova,
The Amphitheatre Arena was constructed in the first century AD.
It is situated in the middle of the Piazza Bra and is still used today to host the famous Verona opera festival.
Verona's splendid town hall is also in the Piazza Bra along with several bars
and restaurants.
Lake Garda is Italy's largest lake.
We caught the train from Verona to picturesque Desenzano on the south western corner of the lake.
We enjoyed strolling along the lakeside admiring the views of the surrounding mountains.
The small town has a nice relaxing atmosphere and we went to some lovely restaurants near the harbour.
See the photos from our visit to Florence in 2005 and in 2006
