The Cinque Terre is a National Park in Liguria, northern Italy consisting of five picturesque fishing villages.
We stayed in Monterosso and explored
Vernazza , Manarola , Riomaggiore and
sampled the local cuisine in some excellent restaurants.
Monterosso
This is the biggest village and is the only one of the five villages which has a proper beach
and a tree lined promenade.
Vernazza
A beautiful village with pastel coloured buildings, a typical Italian piazza with a Church and castle by the water's edge.
A train links the villages and it's only a few minutes between stops.
Monterosso is just across the water.
Found a great spot on the piazza for a delicious seafood lunch.
Manarola
A small village noted for its steep rugged coastline and local wine.
Riomaggiore
is the most eastern village of the Cinque Terre. A steep road leads to a tiny
colourful harbour.
A perfect spot to have lunch and enjoy the scenery.
