We enjoyed a short break between Christmas and New Year in Chantilly, a historic town situated a short train journey north of Paris, France. We visited the beautiful chateau and sampled the local Chantilly cream.
We also dined at some fabulous restaurants.
The chateau at Chantiily was originally built in the middle ages, but was redesigned in the 19th century into a magnificent chateau with extensive landscaped grounds. It also has stables and a horse museum.
The chateau was decorated for the festive season.
We explored the interior rooms with its many teasures including an impressive collection of paintings and the reading room with its prestigious collection of ancient manuscripts.
Relaxing at our hotel, Chateau de la Tour
We dined at the hotel restaurant, where for dessert I enjoyed a clementine baba with Chantilly cream. This French speciality of whipped cream flavoured with vanilla was delicious!
