John and I joined our friends at Cassis on the Côte d'Azur in the south of France during the summer.

We spent a wonderfully relaxing few days on the beach and ambling around the chic little seaside resort surrounded by high cliffs and the deep blue sea.

Every day we discovered a different beach and set up base camp.

Some beaches were more pebbly than others and not always very comfortable for posing and sunbathing!

Leisurely afternoons were spent swimming

John and Cliodhna invite everyone to join them in the water

Apparently John saw lots of fish

and snorkelling in the sea,

and gazing up at the pretty coves and headlands all around.

We were staying in a lovely villa on the outskirts of town.

we had some great views of the hills and olive groves.

Naturally all that time spent on the beach can build up an appetite.

Note: a glass of rosé helps develop the creative side to cooking!

An excellent way to end an excellent holiday!
