John and I enjoyed an Autumn break in Beaune, Burgundy. We visited the Hospice
de Beaune, enjoyed strolling around the historic town centre and went on a tour
of the wine region.
Hospice de Beaune
This museum was founded in the 15th century as a hospital for the poor.
In the centre of the courtyard there is a well with gothic ironwork.
Ornately decorated glazed tiled roof.
Inside is a ward furnished with beds and at the far end there is a chapel.
Other rooms include the infirmary and kitchen.
Beaune Town Centre
The covered market, Les Halles is close to the Hospice de Beaune. On Saturdays the market overflows into the surrounding
busy narrow streets.
Seasonal Burgundy truffles.

Côtes de Nuits Wine Tour
Our guide drove us around the vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges,
where we visited a cellar and enjoyed tasting the quality wines.
