In April 2009 John and I had a lovely holiday on the Amalfi coast.
We stayed in Amalfi and visited Positano.
We always like to sample the local restaurants and
I've included some recommendations.
Our first view of Amalfi was from on the bus from Sorrento, which at times felt like being on a rollercoaster ride, as the bus lurched around the hairpin bends on the edge of the cliffs.
Amalfi's harbour and pastel painted houses, which cling to the steep rocky coastline.
The town's central piazza is dominated by the colourful Duomo di Sant' Andrea.
We climbed the steps to admire the interior of the cathedral.
Around the fountain in the main piazza there are several bars and restaurants
and plenty
where you can buy anything relating to lemons.
One day we hopped over to Positano by boat.
The coastline is very picturesque with the all houses stacked on top of each other on the hillsides.
On arrival we stepped onto the beach and walked over to a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea for a spot of lunch.. Amalfi Da Gemma Eolo Positano La Buca di Bacco See other restaurants I recommend around the world. See the photos of our trips to Pompeii and Vesuvius and other holidays.
